Flora B. Giffuni...passed away

Using the words from Jimmy Wright:

"Flora B. Giffuni, founder of the Pastel Society of America, passed away early this morning at 3:30 A.M. in New York City. In October she would have celebrated her 90th birthday. At this time we have no news of the family's plans.


Rae Smith, PSA President and invited speakers will give tribute to Flora's life on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 4 P.M. at the opening of the 37th Annual "Pastels Only" Awards Ceremony.


In keeping with Flora's wishes and spirit, the Awards Ceremony will be held as usual and on schedule. Friends wishing to share their appreciation of Flora will be given the opportunity to speak during the Annual Dinner following the Awards Ceremony.Sincerely,Jimmy Wright"

Solidariedade Social a Autistas Portugueses

A colega artista Maria Oilveira Reis convidou a Galeria DaVinci e ExpoArt's.Molinero para participar numa Doação de Solidariedade Social a favor dos Autistas Portugueses onde as obras serão leiloadas e o produto será entregue ao Centro ABCReal Portugal.

As obras serão expostas no Sana Hotel na Rua José Malhoa em LISBOA de 4 a 17 de Junho. Inauguração dia 4 às 19 horas. Leilão dia 17 a hora a anunciar.
Haverá lugar para um máximo de 22 obras a expôr.
No 5º almoço da Galeria DaVinci que decorreu a 16/05 onde a ideia foi apresentada pela 1ª vez foram doadas 17 obras pelos artistas presentes no almoço imediatamente e neste momento (20/05) temos 24 doadas.

Para os restantes membros da DaVinci e da ExpoArt's.Molinero que não puderem ou não possam participar AGORA por falta de espaço, iremos talvez promover mais uma ou duas acções de solidariedade Social durante o ano e todos os que quiserem terão oportunidade de contribuir para as causas que se anunciarão. TEMOS QUE DAR AS MÃOS À SOLIDARIEDADE!

A Marta

Olá pessoal, apesar isto ser um blog de arte, esta triste noticia tocou no nosso circlo de amigos e como tal....

A Marta tem 4 anos e em 22 de Janeiro foi-lhe diagnosticada uma Leucemia Mioloblástica Aguda.
Este tipo de Leucemia, por ter grandes probabilidades de reincidir, aconselha o transplante de Medula. A sua Mãe estava grávida, porém, a esperança do sangue do cordão umbilical do bébé para transplante, resultou em negativo para a irmã (Marta), neste momento, ela não tem ninguém compatível na família.
Nesse sentido os pais de Marta, apelam a que se tornem dadores.
Não custa nada basta preencher um formulário e enviar pelo correio ou para ser mais rápido passar no Hospital Pulido Valente entregar o impresso e fazer na hora uma analise de sangue ou anda ir ter aos vários pontos de recolha que estamos a organizar.

Call for European Pastel Artists

Do you live in Europe? Do you paint in pastels? Would you like to belong to a pastel society, but have a hard time finding one, or even other pastellists? This is the place for you. We are some European Pastellists who want to start a society. It would be open to all Europeans, and the language would be English. We want to do this in order to promote pastel in Europe and in our countries.

We would be the pioneers in building a society to show once more to Europe, that pastel has not been forgotten, nor the masters that started. We will be the pioneers of the "the pastel renaissance" of Europe...
